Why Whitewater?
Why Whitewater?
My husband and I have lived here for most of our adult lives. We raised our two children here. They attended school in the Whitewater Unified School District from kindergarten until graduation and have become well educated, independent adults. There is a combination of farming, small town living, recreational facilities and cultural activities all right here!

I am located in room 149.You can reach me by phone at: 262-472-8209. If you would rather use email, please contact me at: . Communication between home and school is essential to the success of students.

Educational background :I earned my Bachelor's Degrees in Elementary Education (grades:1-8) and Special Education/Mental Retardation (MR), from UW-Eau Claire. I continued my education at UW-Whitewater and earned my Master's Degree in Special Education - Emotional Disturbance - Elementary (ED.  I earned my National Board Certification for Special Education from the American Academy of Special Education Professionals in the summer of 2011. I continue to take classes and earn individual certificates to be sure my skills are current to best meet the needs of my students.

My teaching experience includes one year special education teaching experience in Ithaca Public Schools in Ithaca, WI. I moved to Whitewater, after our wedding and began teaching as an employee of Walworth County Children with Disabilities Education Board, working with behaviorally/emotionally disturbed students from Whitewater, Delavan, Elkhorn, Williams Bay and Fontana at Phoenix Middle School, Delavan, WI. When it was determined Whitewater needed a program of its own, I started the Emotional Disabilities Program at Franklin Junior High in Whitewater. When I returned from maternity leave, I was transferred to the Washington Elementary Emotional Disabilities (ED) Program in Whitewater. The elementary ED program at Washington and its students were moved to Lakeview Elementary when the district population was expanding. I taught at Lakeview for the next nine years. I continued to work for Walworth County and was transferred to Whitewater High School as a Cross Categorical Teacher in the fall of 2000 and completed my duties with Walworth County in June, 2015.  I started as an employee of the Whitewater Unified School District during the 2015-16 school year.

My instructional experience has been enhanced by teaching graduate courses for teachers during summer school through St. Thomas University, as well as working with special needs students in the district.  I have taught students from Kindergarten to Seniors in high school in all five of our schools.

My love of teaching and working with students who have special needs has not diminished. I am proud to be a part of this profession, because without teachers, there would be no other professions.
