Promethean Boards and Projection Systems
Each year more and more teachers add a Promethean digital board or a projection system to their classroom so that they can demonstrate concepts to students from web sites, PowerPoints, and specialized software. 100% of classrooms have some sort of projection system.
JEDI Online Courses
Whitewater High School is a member of the JEDI consortium which operates the JEDI Virtual High School. Many students choose to supplement their face-to-face coursework with an online course such as Astronomy or Anthropology. Several Whitewater High School teachers have been instrumental in creating and teaching courses for JEDI. Information on JEDI can be found at http://www.jedivirtual.org/.
Students use Microsoft Office 2013 products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. They also have access to Adobe Creative Suite 3 which includes DreamWeaver, PhotoShop, and InDesign. Most teachers are using Google docs, and many are using Google Classroom with their students.
Students have the opportunity to become certified in both software and networking fields by completing specific coursework. The Microsoft Certified Application Specialist (MCAS) for the 2013 versions of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are available through courses in the Business and Information Technology Department. The Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) certification is attainable through coursework in the Computer Science Department.
