Girls' Basketball Players Receive Local, Regional, and State Recognitions
The WHS Girls’ Basketball Team held their year-end awards banquet on Monday, March 13. Team Awards were presented to the following athletes: Whitney Treder, Whippet Heart Award; Rebekah Schumacher, Most Steals, Most Assists and Best Free-Throw Shooter; Myriama Smith-Traore, Most Valuable Player, Most Rebounds, Most Blocks, and Best Defensive Player; Miranda Reynolds, Most Improved. The new captains for 2017-2018 will be Allison Heckert, Miranda Reynolds, and Ali Ketterhagen. Both Myriama and Rebekah were named to the All-Conference First Team. Myriama was named 1st Team All-State and Rebekah was Honorable Mention All-State by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. Both girls will be playing in the All-State Game on June 16 at the JustAgame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells. Myriama was also selected as the top senior Defensive player as part of the WSN Basketball Awards.
