Meet the Administrators

Why Whitewater?
Whitewater has a rich tradition of excellence in academics, the arts, and co-curricular programs.

Education
I am from Waunakee, WI, and graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a BA in Broadfield Social Studies (Economics) and hold a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University.

Educational Philosophy
It is important to me that we build strong relationships to ensure that our students are actively involved in their school experience in order to benefit from all of the opportunities we offer. We will continue to develop individuals with good character, compassion, and integrity who understand the importance of citizenship and responsibility in our global society. Additionally, it is also important that we provide a variety of academic and career pathways that will allow students to individualize their course of study to meet their college and career goals.  This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment!

About Me
My wife Alison and I live in Williams Bay with our children, Brynn and Braden.   We enjoy traveling, playing sports, and spending time outdoors around the Castle Rock Lake area.  I am also an avid golfer and we are proud supporters of all Wisconsin sports teams.

I began my career as a teacher at Black Hawk High School and spent fifteen years as a social studies teacher at Westosha Central High School before serving as the principal at Williams Bay Middle/High School for two years.  I have also served as a varsity-level basketball (18 years) and football (10 years) coach at Eleva-Strum, Hudson, Black Hawk, Westosha Central, and Richmond-Burton (IL) High Schools.

Why Whitewater?
Whitewater High School is a diverse and vibrant learning community made up of dedicated staff and remarkable students. I’m proud to have been a part of the WHS staff for nearly 30 years. The comprehensive academic programs and multitude of extracurricular opportunities offered here reflect our commitment to the district’s mission: to inspire and empower students to achieve excellence in a safe, innovative educational environment.  I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to learn and grow professionally during my time with WUSD, and it’s been an honor to be part of such a supportive district and community.

Education:
UW – La Crosse: Educational Leadership

Cardinal Stritch University: Master of Arts in Education
UW – La Crosse: Bachelor of Science in Education – Spanish & Oral Communication

Educational Philosophy:
Equity is at the core of my educational philosophy. Each student is an individual with a significant and distinct future, and all students deserve an enriching education that prepares them for whatever academic and career paths they choose. The cornerstone of my philosophy of education involves building relationships so that students see that I value them and want the best for all of them.

About Me:
After growing up in the only Waunakee in the world, I graduated from UW-LaCrosse with a degree in Secondary Education in Spanish and Oral Communication and later went on to earn my Masters in Education, and finally Educational Administration.

Throughout my career at WHS, I have taught Spanish (all levels including middle school), Speech, English, and some ML courses!  I  have also enjoyed  opportunities to work with students by advising Spanish Club, Cheerleading, Homecoming, and Senior Class. But of all of my activities, I have most loved traveling to different countries with students and witnessing them experience new cultures and peoples.

When not at WHS, I can be found spending time with my two adult sons Noah & Jacob. I love to read, go for hikes, and spend time with friends. I am continuously practicing my culinary skills and trying to learn new languages, currently I’m studying Irish Gaelic. Outside of my family and career in education, my greatest passion is traveling anywhere, anytime I get a chance. I enjoy the planning as much as the trip itself, although my sons often say I plan more like we’re going on a field trip than a vacation as I love exploring museums, art, and local cultures.
