Walworth Avenue, from State Highway 12 to Janesville Street, is closed to through traffic from June 9th through August 29th. The recommended detour for accessing the High School on Tuesday, August 5th, for the Whippet Welcome event during this road construction is to use Main Street (Business Hwy 12) to Elizabeth Street. Please refer to the map below. Please enter the High School through the MPR/Gym entrance door #4. Should you have any questions that day, please call 262-472-8101.

The intersection of Elizabeth St. and Walworth Ave. is now scheduled to be closed next Monday, August 4th. If you would like to access the high school next Monday, please plan on using the intersection of Pleasant St. and Walworth Ave, over by the JV Baseball field.

The WHS Boys Soccer Program would love for you to join them on Saturday, August 16th at 7pm to watch Forward Madison Take on Naples in what is sure to be an exciting game of semi-professional soccer. The game will be played at Breese Stevens Field in Madison, and $5.00 from each ticket will be donated to our program. They hope to buy warm-ups for all three teams with these funds. Samuel Karns will serve as the next Superintendent of the Whitewater Unified School District, effective July 1. The appointment follows a comprehensive search process led by executive search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA). Earlier this spring, HYA facilitated a series of focus groups with WUSD students, staff, families, local organizations, and community members to gather input on the district’s priorities and the desired qualities of its next leader. The feedback collected was used to develop a leadership profile that guided candidate recruitment and selection. “We are pleased to welcome Mr. Karns to the Whitewater Unified School District,” said Stephanie Hicks, Board President. “Throughout the search process, the community expressed a desire for a student-focused, collaborative leader who understands how to support academic growth and build strong relationships. Mr. Karns brings experience in all these areas, and we look forward to partnering with him in service of our students.” Karns currently serves as Principal of Todd Elementary School in Beloit. Under his leadership, the school improved its Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction School Report Card rating from “failing to meet expectations” to “meeting expectations.” In recognition of his work, Karns was named 2025 Wisconsin Elementary Principal of the Year by the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators (AWSA) and received the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Leadership Award. Before leading Todd Elementary, Karns held Assistant Principal positions at McNeel Intermediate School in Beloit and Landrum Middle School in Houston, Texas. He also served in district administration as Assistant Director for Student Wellness from 2016 to 2018. Karns holds a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Texas A&M University. He completed his superintendent licensure program at Concordia University in December 2024 and is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership. Karns is an advocate of the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) framework and has presented on the topic at national conferences hosted by ASCD, SHAPE America, and other educational organizations. The WUSD School Board will share additional information in the coming weeks regarding opportunities to welcome Karns to the district community.

Congratulations to students making the Honor Roll and High Honor Roll for second semester of the 2024-2025 school year. These designations are based on Semester 2 weighted grades. Students earning a 3.500 – 3.7499 are on Honor Roll, and students earning a 3.75 – 5.0 are on High Honor Roll.

The Whippet Softball team won their sectional game against #1 Pewaukee last night 6-5 to advance to the Sectional Final which will be played at Whitewater High School today (Thursday, June 5) at 5:00 pm. Come cheer on the Whippets as they continue on their road to State!

Alex Clarksen's Senior Voice Recital has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 21, at 7:15 pm.

All after-school activities, athletics, and practices will be cancelled today, May 15, 2025, due to severe weather predictions in the area.

CESA2 offers a driver education class and behind-the-wheel driving lessons at Whitewater High School. You can begin the driver education course when you are 14 years and 9 months old. You must be 15 to receive your permit and start behind-the-wheel lessons. CESA2 has recently launched a new website which will make registering your teen a quick and simple process. Go to https://www.cesa2drivered.org/ and set up a CESA2 account to register for courses. They have an in-person classroom at Whitewater High School available this summer as an alternative to the online course. The in-person classes will be held June 2nd - 5th from 3:30 - 5:30pm and June 9th - 21st from 8:00 - 10:00am.

Come out to the Varsity Baseball game this Saturday, May 3rd and support your current and past Whippets! The game starts at 10am, and the 1995 State Championship team will be recognized before the game! The game will be played on the turf field at the high school.

This week begins Semester 2 senior voice recitals at Whitewater High School. A'lani Ross will perform this Wednesday, April 30th, Alex Sullivan Friday, May 9th, Alex Clarksen Thursday, May 15th, and Ayden Clark Friday, May 16th. Students prepare all semester to put together a full concert program for their friends, family, and community.
