Whitewater High

In late January, we learned that Whitewater High School’s grant application to the Department of Workforce Development for the Wisconsin Fast Forward Grant had been approved, and that WHS would receive funding for a 45 Ton Ironworker, an SLA Resin 3D Printer and related equipment, an Injection Mold Making Kit, and 7-10 high-end computers. The computers will serve multiple purposes, being used for CAD coursework in Technology and Engineering courses, CAD for the school’s FIRST Robotics team, and the newly formed e-Sports Team. Over the last few weeks, under the direction of e-Sports Advisor Justin Buntrock and district IT Specialist Cody Garthwaite, the computers were fully built by students. Buntrock and Garthwaite offered sessions after school each night, open to any interested students, where they taught students how to assemble computer components. Students participating included Eric Arredondo Puentes, Emmanuel Cansino-Pena, Daniel Portwine, Ace Hudec, Ash Holmbo, Quin McCarthy, Jackson Repinski, Kyle Szczecina, and Joseph Falcon-Kienbaum.
