Math for the Trades

Who doesn't love fractions?! Students in our new math course, Math for the Trades, co-taught by math teacher Jason Bleck and technology and engineering teacher Mike Fellin, are getting hands-on experience on how fractions and measurement relate to the trades. Students spend time in the classroom learning math skills and are currently working on standard measurements and fraction operations. Once the skills are taught, then they are tasked with real world situations from the trades by measuring and doing calculations with different types of building materials. While doing so, they also are learning how to use different tools like tape measures, speed squares, and combination squares.
