Consumer Home and Auto

Students in the second semester of Consumer Home and Auto learned a lot. Everything they learned continued to build off itself. Teacher Justin Buntrock stated, “I was very proud of all the work and effort these kids put into this long project.” Students learned how to build and frame out a 4' by 4' wall using 2x4's, with studs 16 inches on center. They then learned how to cut and hang drywall and how to mud a flat seam and a corner seam on the drywall. Then students had the opportunity to smash a hole into their drywall and learned how to patch drywall. Students were warned that even the smallest of mistakes when mudding will show up when you paint it. The students next learned how to run an electric one-way light switch and outlet. They then tested them to see if the light bulb turned on, and the outlet worked. All of them passed the test! Finally, students learned how to properly tape off, cut in, and paint the wall. They did a remarkable job!
