During the first three days of school, students at WHS participated in a non-traditional curriculum. Schedules were developed to focus on activities that build team-building, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. WHS started the 2026-27 school year this way because it supports both our students and staff in several important ways:
Introducing AVID Strategies: Students were engaged in many of the AVID strategies and skills that will be part of the school year, helping establish a strong foundation for learning and success.
Creating a Positive Start: The activities were designed to help students reconnect with peers and staff, build a sense of belonging, and transition smoothly back into the school environment.
Increasing Student Engagement: Research consistently shows that students are more engaged, prepared, and productive when they feel connected, invested, and supported in their learning environment.
The staff and students at WHS kicked off the year with energy, purpose, and opportunities for students to build the skills and relationships that will support their success throughout the year. Traditional curriculum will start Tuesday, September 8.
