DNR Trip

Our Environmental Conservation students recently spent the day at Bluff Creek State Natural Area working alongside the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Jared Urban, State Natural Area Volunteer Coordinator, and his team.

Students rolled up their sleeves to help remove invasive species and collect native plant seeds while learning firsthand about the importance of volunteerism, protecting public lands, and maintaining healthy natural ecosystems. They also gained hands-on experience identifying invasive and native species, properly collecting seeds, and using equipment to remove invasive plants.

It was hard, dirty work, but an incredibly valuable learning experience! Opportunities like this allow students to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it in meaningful ways while making a positive impact on their community and environment.

A huge thank you to Jared Urban and the entire DNR team for making this opportunity possible for our students. We appreciate your partnership and all you do to protect Wisconsin's public lands!
