Gateway Technical College

Career and Technical Education Teachers from Whitewater High School traveled to Gateway Technical College in Elkhorn on Monday, October 10, to explore possibilities for additional transcripted credits for WHS students. Teachers toured the facilities and had a lunch meeting with Gateway faculty teaching in corresponding programs. Transcripted Credit is a form of dual credit that provides high school students the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit by taking an approved college-level course at their high school during the school day. WHS staff attending the workshop included Principal Brent Mansky, Counselors Pamela Sonmor-Wintz and Teri Hamilton, Business and Information Technology Teachers Randy Smith and Baron West, Technology and Engineering Teachers Mason Pautsch and Justin Buntrock, Family and Consumer Education Teacher Lynn Weilbrenner, Agriculture Teacher Paul Majors along with his student teacher Katherine Novak, and Computer Science Teacher Laura Masbruch. Smith has recently received approval to offer the WHS Personal Finance course for transcripted credit, and more options are in the works for the 2023-2024 school year.
