Badminton Finals

In front of a record crowd of over seventy students and dozens of online viewers, Carson Petitt and Kindyl Kilar waged a battle to wrap up the singles badminton tournament on Thursday, January 12. Carson jumped out to an early lead 7-0 covering the floor better than any opponent Kindyl had faced yet. Carson covered her well-placed drop shots and could move to the backcourt quickly on her deep hits. Kindyl soon found her rhythm and changed her strategy, bringing the score to within one (8-7). Carson was then able to take the serve back and edged his way closer to victory getting to 12-7 before Kindyl notched a few more points to get it to 13-10. Carson then sealed his victory by scoring the next two points to close it out 15-10. As a sophomore, he has set himself up to repeat the next two years as champion in the singles bracket.

In the consolation match, Hector Rodiguez defeated Yovanni Rojas-Reyes for third place in a thriller featuring long rallies that had your head spinning with smashes to finish with a score of 16-14.

Thank you to all students and spectators that contributed to this awesome event!

The doubles tournament will begin in February and will be open to all students of all grades. Watch for a sign up later next month!
